Somaliland deports Fethullah-linked organisation

Maarif Foundation, which was established by Turkey after the failed coup, was handed the management of FETร–-linked schoolsย in Somaliland

The government of the Republic of Somaliland has recently deported an organization owned by Turkey’s Fethullah Gulen who has been accused of backing the failed coup in Turkey in 2016.

Turkey’s Ambassador in Mogadishu, Mehmet Yฤฑlmaz, who recently visited Hargeysa and met President Musa Bihi, has thanked Somaliland government for deporting FETO-backed organization which administered Schools in Hargeisa.

โ€œWe welcome the Somaliland deporting FETร– and handing the management of FETร–-linked schools over to the Maarif Foundation,”said Ambassador Mehmet Yilmaz. Turkey has identified Fethullah and his organization as terrorists since the failed coup.

The Ambassador did not provide further details on how Somaliland had deported its country from the organization. But Mehmet said this remarks in a hand-over ceremonyย by which Turkey’sย TIKA donated 216 health tools to the Hargeisa General Hospital.

Anadolu News Agency has reported thatย The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TฤฐKA) said that an ultrasound device, echocardiography equipment and autoclave were among the devices and medical equipment provided for the Hargeisaย General Hospital.

Turkish Ambassador to Somalia, Mehmet Yilmaz, pledged that his country would continue to support Somaliland.

Turkey established the Maarif Foundation after the 2016 defeated coup attempt by FETร–. The foundation has taken over the administration of overseas schools linked to FETร–.
