The Somaliland Online Media Association (SOMA) has strongly condemned the brutal killing of Al-Jazeera reporter Shireen Abu Akleh by Israeli security forces in the West Bank.
The SOMA condemnation came via a statement signed by its Chairman Mustafe Abdi Mohamed โJanaleโ. โit is with great sorrow that we received the news of the shocking and brutal murder of Shireen Abu Akleh by Israeli forcesโ he said
And on behalf of the Somaliland Online Media Association, I strongly condemned the Wednesday, May 11th heinous killing of our colleagueโ
This day shall remain etched in our minds for it is a sad one for all journalists worldwide said Janale.
Shireen Abu Akleh for Al Jazeera Arabic was killed on Wednesday while covering Israeli army raids in the city of Jenin in the northern occupied West Bank.
She was rushed to a hospital in Jenin in critical condition, where she was declared dead shortly after, at 7:15 am (4:15 GMT), according to the ministry and Al Jazeera journalists.
Stressing that Shireen Abu Akleh, is now a martyr, for she was killed in the service of her long-persecuted people, Palestinians the Somaliland journalists group said that the murder is a clear violation of freedom of expression.
โThis is evidenced by the fact that she was directly targeted by a sniper since the bullets were fired from under her ear and did not reach the bulletproof vest he was wearing.
โWe will remember the horrific assassination of Shireen Abu Akleh and we will never forget it.โ Concluded the SOMA Chairman
May God have mercy on her
